Ich möchte euch meine neue Nähmaschine vorstellen. Es handelt sich um die Brother innov-is 350 Special Edition. Ich werde hier die Maschine einfach nur ein bisschen vorstellen. Wenn ich sie dann eine Weile habe und kennengelernt habe folgt noch ein richtiger Erfahrungsbericht.
Die Maschine hat eine Knopflochautomatik, eine maximale Stichlänge von 5 mm und eine maximale Stichbreite von 7 mm. Insgesamt hat die Maschine 294 verschiedene Stiche. Sie wiegt 8,2 kg und eine Größe von 42 x 21 cm. Die Stiche können ohne Probleme über die Tasten eingegeben werden. Allerdings denke ich, dass man sich vor dem Bedienen der Maschine in jedem Fall die Anleitung durchlesen sollte, da einen der schiere Umfang sonst schnell überwältigen und verwirren kann.
Die innov-is 350 SE wurde von Brother anlässlich des 50 Jährigen Jubiläums in Europa ins Programm genommen. Im Grunde ist die 350 SE eine etwas abgespeckte, preisgünstigere Version der innov-is 400. Meiner Kenntnis nach unterscheiden sich die Maschinen nur durch eine Überarbeitung (unter anderem der Software) und dadurch, dass die 350 SE einige Nähfüße nicht dabei hat.
Die Nähmaschine kommt mit einer Harthaube. Diese hat oben eine Öffnung um den Tragegriff hindurch nehmen zu können. An der Vorderseite hat die Haube ein Fach in welches man die Einzelteile, wie das Stromkabel, für den Transport legen kann. Innen ist die Haube mit Styropor ausgekleidet. Es entsteht hier beim Auspacken schnell der Eindruck, dass dieses nur für den Transport vorgesehen ist. Allerdings soll dieses nicht entfernt werden, da es der Polsterung zwischen Haube und Maschine dient.
Im Lieferumang befinden sich unter anderem eine Zwillingsnadel, ein Pfeiltrenner, vier Spulen, einem Pinsel, eine Stichmustertafel, ein Kniehebel, eine Ahle und ein zusätzlicher Garnrollenhalter. Ausserdem sind ein Knopflochfuß, ein Überwendlingfuß, ein Monogramm-Nähfuß, ein Reißverschlussfuß, ein Standard-Nähfuß, ein Blindstich-Nähfuß und ein Knopfannähfuß dabei.
Einige der Features der Maschine sind die Geschwindigkeitsregelung, der anpassbare Nähfußdruck und der versenkbare Sieben-Punkt-Transporteur. Auf Wunsch kann man einstellen, dass die Maschine am Beginn und am Ende einer Naht automatisch Vernäht. Eine integrierte Fadenschere schneidet zusätzlich den Faden am Ende ab, entweder automatisch oder auf Knopfdruck.
Die Stiche können gespiegelt bzw. bis zu 70 verschiedene Stiche aneinander gereiht werden. Es gibt einen Stichspeicher in welchem man bis zu zehn seiner liebsten Stiche für den schnellen Zugriff sichern kann. Zusätzlich besitzt die innov-is 350 SE noch die Funktion “Custom Stitch”. Hiermit kann man eigene Stiche programmieren. Es werden zwei Stichtafeln mitgeliefert. Eine kann man sich in den Deckel über dem Garnrollenhalter kleben, die andere kann bei geschlossenem Deckel oben eingesteckt werden.
Toll sind auch die Aufspulautomatik und vor allem der praktisch vollautomatische Einfädler. Beides erleichert die Vorbereitungen deutlich. Insgesamt ist die Fadenführung für das Einfädeln der Maschine sehr gut gekennzeichnet und geht dadurch sehr schnell. Auch der Unterfaden ist schnell eingefädelt, hier entfällt auf Wunsch sogar das Hochholen vor Beginn.
Natürlich gibt es auch einen Freiarm. Dieser wird durch einfaches Abnehmen des Zubehörfaches frei. Das Zubehörfach als Solches beinhaltet ebenfalls ein nettes Gimmik. Zum einen liegen die Teile in einem kleinen Beutel, welcher einfach entnommen werden kann. Hierrüber sitzt ein Extrafach in welchem man die mitgelieferten Nähfüße, sowie vier Spulen und den Nahttrenner griffbereit ablegen kann.

I’d like to introduce you to my new sewing machine. It is the Brother innov-is 350 Special Edition. Here I’ll just tel you some facts about the machine. After I got to know it a bit better and am having it a bit longer there will be a real experience report.
The machine has got automatic button holes, a maximum stitch length of 5 mm and a maximum stitch width of 7 mm. All in all the machine has 294 stiches. It measures 42 x 21 cm and has a weight of 8.2 kg. It is no problem to enter the stitches by using the keys. Yet I think, it is better to read the manual beforehand, as the amount itself would be overwhelming and confusing.
The innov-is 350 SE has been introduced by Brother for the 50 years anniversary in Europe. The 350 SE is more or less the same as the innov-is 400, just cheaper and with a little less equipment. As far as I know the only real difference between those two are a revision (amongst others a newer software) and fewer sewing foots 350 SE.
The sewing machine comes with a hard cover. this is having an opening on top to fit the handle. At the front of the cover is a compartment to store stuff like the cord for transportation. At the inside of the cover is styrofoam. While you unpack it seems as if this is to removed, but it is meant to be a barrier between machine and cover.
Within the purchased parts of package are a twin needle, four bobbins, an unstitcher, a brush, a stitch panel, a knee lever, an awl and an extra spool holder. Also there are different sewing feet.
Some of the features of the sewing machine are the adjustable speed, a customizable sewing foot pressure and a lowerable 7-point feeder. If you wish to, you can program automatic securing of the thread at the beginning and finish. There is also an integrated thread cutter.
You can mirror the stitches or link up to 70 different stitches. There is a stitch memory where you can save up to 10 favorite stitches for quick access. On top of this the 350 SE has a function called “Custom Stitch”. With this you can program your very own stitches. There are two different stitch panels. One that is suppossed to be paste into the lid which covers the spool holder. The other one can be clicked on top of the clossed lid.
Another great asset are the automatical bobbin winding and the more or less hands-off threader. Preparations are much easier done with this. All in all the threading is very good marked and thereby quickly done. Even the bobbin is quickly threadened, if you wish to even without getting the bobbin thread through the needle plate.
Of course there is an arm bed. You get that by removing the supplies box. The supplis box itself contains some nice little gimmicks. Here you have a small bag that contains the loose supplies. Above this you have a small tablet that contains the sewign feet, four bobbins and the unstitcher for quick access.
